Who We Are

LiFePO4+C AG (LiFePO) represents the consortium of research and materials organisations which own and have developed the manufacturing and use of LFP (lithium iron phosphate) as a battery material. LiFePO own and license the worldwide rights to LFP.

LFP is a key component of lithium ion batteries and is used in most electric-powered buses because it is a sustainable, cost-efficient and safe solution. LFP as a li-ion cathode material is involved right at the start of the supply chain for electric-powered buses. As such, the technology enables the transition to collective electric mobility.

Our consortium is composed of:

LiFePO has licensed its IP portfolio to a group of leading players in the battery materials sector to ensure wide access to high quality LFP across the world.

Why does licensing of LFP matter?

LFP licenses help address climate change through innovation.

The huge improvements in battery technology  over the last 20 years have only been made possible by large, sustained investments in R&D. This must continue to deliver the further improvements required to deliver the levels of electrification essential to meeting global climate change goals. This in turn creates employment opportunities for all, especially in the science and manufacturing sectors.

There is a need to protect LFP intellectual property

When IP rights are not respected, research and innovation suffers.

It is also our mission to ensure that IP rights are respected to prevent unlicensed LFP being used. We seek to work with end users to help them in their supply chain assurance programmes in sectors such as electric buses.

Protecting IP rights, especially in strategic sectors such as electrification and manufacturing, also helps industries compete on the global stage.
